Head coach Jeff Jackson was one of the masterminds behind the U.S. National Team Development Program as he laid out the plan for what would become the USNTDP while interviewing with USA Hockey.
Jackson then served as the first head coach of the USNTDP from 1996-2000. In addition to the Jackson connection, 36 Notre Dame hockey players have come through the U.S. National Team Development Program, including current players Dawson Cook, Matt Hellickson, Dylan St. Cyr and Joe Wegwerth.
Associate coach Andy Slaggert's son and Notre Dame signee Graham Slaggert, played forward for the USNTDP team last season.
Current USNDTP assistant coach Mason Graddock spent the 2015-16 season with the Notre Dame staff as a program intern.
The Irish will open the regular season on next weekend when they welcome Alabama-Huntsville for a two-game series Oct. 6-7 at the Compton Family Ice Arena. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:35 p.m. ET Friday and 7:05 p.m. ET Saturday.
