Original Jr. Fuel Press Release

The Junior Fuel is pleased to welcome Marcus Burnell to Hockey Operations as our Director of Player and Coaching Development.

"From a hockey side of things," said Mike Berger, Junior Fuel Director of Hockey Operations, "Marcus brings a wealth of hockey knowledge an experience to the Junior Fuel. He has worked in all sectors of the sport and was part of the Indianapolis hockey community when we were at the top of our game. Having him directly involved with the development of our players and coaches makes us stronger as an association. I am looking forward to working on the 2017-2018 hockey season with him."

Burnell brings a rick Indianapolis hockey background to the program. Playing youth hockey at the coliseum and Carmel, in both house and with the Indy Travelers, he also played at the junior level with the Jr. Ice at Pan Am. Burnell coached in Indianapolis mites through high school and midget AAA. He coached the Racers 1998 AA national  championship team with Fred Knipscheer, who were also two-time CSDHL champions. He also acted as a scout for the Indiana Ice and Assistant General Manager under Dean Grillo and has worked in numerous  nationally recognized camps.

Burnell will continue to scout for the Anderson Cup Champion Cedar Rapids Roughriders.

"Hockey is my passion and Indy hockey is something I take a tremendous amount of pride in," said Burnell. " I look forward to this opportunity to work with the players, the Junior Fuel and the Hallett family."
