Hildebrand's November To Remember

Fuel Netminder Misses Honor But Earns Call Up

Something about November must agree with Jake Hildebrand.  After a modest start to the season, Hildebrand began to heat up as the temperatures cooled off.  The Indy Fuel netminder earned his first CCM/ECHL Goaltender of the Week honors in mid-October, but his November encore was even more impressive.

Hildebrand took home his second GOTW award for the week of November 7-13, highlighted by his first professional "no-no" during the road trip to Alaska.  That, along with a 5-1-1 record, 2.13 GAA, and a .935 save pct. kept him in the thick of the Goaltender of the Month conversation.

Ryan Massa (Orlando Solar Bears) ended up with the accolades, but Hildebrand earned something even better... his first AHL call-up.  Hildebrand caught up with the IceHogs in time for a home game against the Grand Rapids Griffins on Saturday, and saw his first AHL action when Head Coach Ted Dent swapped out starter Mac Carruth to start the second period.

Already down 2-1 at that point, Hildebrand stopped 19 of 21 shots in just under 38 minutes before being pulled for the extra attacker.  The IceHogs weren't able to add to their goal total, dropping their sixth straight with Carruth taking the loss.

Still, Hildebrand played well enough to give Dent something to think about when filling out the roster for Wednesday's matchup against the San Antonio Rampage.  It may no longer be November, but December shows signs of being just as sweet for Hildebrand.
