Fort Wayne, IN-- The Komets were 1-2-0 for Thanksgiving week and finished week 7 with a 9-5-2 record and 20 points after 16 games.  The Komets, with four games in hand, trail first-place Tulsa by nine points in the Central division of the ECHL heading into week 8.

The Komets started the week hosting their 56th Thanksgiving night game and celebrated with a 6-1 victory over the visiting Kalamazoo Wings.  Fort Wayne improved their annual home Thanksgiving record to 35-17-4.  Friday the Komets fell 7-1 at Toledo in the first meeting of six this season against the Walleye.  The Komets capped the holiday week with a 6-2 setback Saturday against Quad City in Fort Wayne and are now 3-1-0 after four meetings with the Mallards.

For the week-- Kyle Thomas led the Komets with three goals and three assists for six points in the three games played.  Thomas had a hand in each of Fort Wayne's goals Saturday scoring the first goal and adding an assist on the second to extended his home point-scoring streak to three games (4g, 3a).  Saturday's home game against Quad City marked Thomas' 100th Fort Wayne regular season game. Goaltender Eric Hartzell started each game of the week for six straight starts.

By the numbers-- The Komets are 6-1-0 when leading after the first period and 9-0-0 when leading after the second.  The Komets are 8-1-0 when scoring the first goal and 7-2-0 when outshooting their opponents.

The week ahead-- The Komets will remain home for a pair of games this weekend:

Missouri (8-8-1, 17 points) visits Friday at 8pm for their only visit of the year.  The Komets opened the season series with a pair of wins at Missouri Nov. 11 and 12 for a 2-0-0 series lead.  The Western conference rival Mavericks are in fourth place in the Mountain division and trail first-place Colorado by seven points and have two games in hand.  Missouri is coming off a successful weekend visit to Indy winning back-to-back games Saturday and Sunday and are 5-1-0 in their last six outings.  The Mavs will host Allen Wednesday before traveling to Fort Wayne Friday.

The Komets welcome Utah (7-10-2, 16 points) Sunday for a 5pm faceoff and the only meeting of the season.  It's the first of six Fort Wayne Sunday home games this season.  Last year the Komets met the Western Conference rival Grizzlies in the second round of the ECHL playoffs and swept the series 4-0.  Sunday's game is the first regular season meeting as ECHL rivals.  The last time the Komets faced Utah in a regular season game was a 5-3 win in the old IHL on Feb. 14, 1999 in Fort Wayne. Utah currently sits in the cellar of the Mountain division  and is eight points behind division leader Colorado.  The Grizzlies are on a six-game winless skid after dropping all three games at Alaska this past weekend.  Utah will skate at Wheeling Friday and Saturday before completing a six-game road tour Sunday in Fort Wayne.

Bob Chase viewing set for Tuesday at the Coliseum-- Arrangements for the public viewing of legendary Komets broadcaster Bob Chase have been set for Tuesday at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum from 2pm-8pm.  Chase passed away Thursday, Nov. 24 at the age of 90.  Services will be private.  See the obituary by clicking here

Teddy Bear Toss Friday-- Fans are invited to bring new or gently used stuffed animals to Friday's home game against the Missouri Mavericks.  The Komets' first goal of the game will be the signal for all stuffed animals to be tossed onto the ice where they will be collected and donated to the Disorderly Bear Den, a non-profit charity that collects stuffed animals for those in need.
