Weekly News from the Indy Fuel

THE FUEL REVIEW: Tangling with a pair of foes from their own Western Conference Central Division, the Indy Fuel could find the back of the opponents’ net a mere one time in bowing at Fort Wayne to the Komets on Friday night, 4-0 before returning home to the Indiana Farmers Coliseum Saturday night where they sustained a hard-luck, 4-1 setback to the Quad City Mallards. In each weekend outcome, the third period was Indy’s unfortunate fate as both the Komets and the Mallards engineered 3-goal final frame flurries to shatter otherwise tight taut-fraught affairs in cementing their respective successes. Center Kevin Lynch (2) (PPG) accounted for his club’s sole goal for the weekend as he dramatically delivered a late second stanza strike Saturday night at the 19:52 mark to equalize matters at 1-1. In Saturday night’s contest against the “Greenheads,” the Fuel rained a 40-shots’ barrage with a season’s best 18 generated in the third period. The 40-SOG represented Indy’s second best output of the early season warfare. In summary of the weekend results, the Fuel have garnered only one triumph in their last 7-decisions at Fort Wayne while the Quad City triumph Saturday night was its first-ever at the Indiana Farmers Coliseum.

NORTH TO ALASKA: On tap for the men of Fuel this week is a three-games’ foreign ice expedition to Anchorage, Alaska where the hometown team tangles with the Alaska Aces. The two inter-divisional combatants will battle on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday nights at Sullivan Arena with game time for each contest set for 11:15 pm EST. All three games will be broadcast live on the Fuel’s exclusive radio flagship home of CBS Sports 1430 with Terry Ficorelli, beginning with the Morellis Cleaners Pre-Game Show at 11:00 pm EST.

HAIL & HEARTY HOME: Once the Fuel return from their long Alaskan journey, their schedule becomes quite favorable as seven of their next eight games will be at the friendly climes and environs of home ice and Indiana Farmers Coliseum. Next home appearance for Indy’s finest Fuel on ice will be Friday, November 18th when they lock antlers with the 2016 ECHL Kelly Cup runners-up, the Wheeling Nailers. There will be a special starting time for this game at 8:05 pm. It will be the opening game of a 4-game home stand in a compact-like fashion of 6-days for the Fuel with Atlanta here on the weekend of November 19th and 20th, followed by division rival Kalamazoo on Wednesday, November 23rd.

November 18thhas been designated as Faith & Family Night presented by Marian University. All Church groups are invited for a special night of fellowship and exciting, electrifying Fuel hockey action.
