The Backcheck Foundation was recently awarded a $2,000 grant to improve the accessibility and playability of the Perry Park Ice Arena for disabled athletes and the community at large.  Grant funds will be used to create an accessible dressing area closer to the ice.  The new dressing area will have folding benches that will facilitate wheelchair access, as well as a storage area for sled hockey equipment.

The dressing area conversion is part of a larger plan to improve the functionality and accessibility of Perry Park Ice Arena for all athletes.  Other aspects of the project include replacing the dasher board system, including new glass, team benches, and sled hockey benches.  These renovations will help create the first fully accessible sled hockey rink in Indiana, while greatly enhancing the experience of all skaters and visitors to the arena.
